Morning Magic πŸ’«

In morning, I pick up my phone for two main reasons.

Watching morning routine videos has become my guilty pleasure.

Even though I know most of them are not very realistic.

The people making these videos often try to copy what others do.

In these videos, they often talk about not looking at your phone when you wake up.

Even in self-improvement videos, you might have come across tips like "avoid checking your phone as soon as you wake up.”

Have you heard this advice before?

If you have, keep reading.

I understand that it's often advised not to use your phone right after waking up.

But have you ever wondered why?

I did some research to find out.

People say it can affect your mental health and make you anxious.

I won't say these reasons are wrong.

However, I believe these issues may have bigger reasons behind them than just checking your phone in the morning.

Alright, so what could be the reasons?

I can explain why I think it's a good idea not to use your phone right after waking up.

One big reason is that it's easy to get stuck scrolling endlessly through content.

This can lead to procrastination, being late, and not getting important things done during the day.

Another reason is to keep away from negative vibes in the morning.

Seeing bad news, urgent work problems, or even pictures of your ex being happy can put you in a bad mood.

Okay, what did I do to change this?

I'll be honest; I'm not always strong enough mentally to resist grabbing my phone.

So, I needed to find a way to make it harder for myself to do that.

Here's what I noticed: I usually pick up my phone for two main reasons.

First, it's because my phone is right next to my pillow, making it super easy to reach.

The other reason is that I use my phone's alarm to wake up.

πŸ“Œ So, I tackled the easy problem firstβ€” the alarm.

I bought this β‚Ή300 alarm clock from Amazon and placed it a few steps away from my bed.

Now, I have to get up to turn it off.

Consider getting a physical alarm clock.

πŸ“Œ Now, onto the bigger issue.

The solution might sound simpleβ€” just keep the phone away from your bed.

But here's the thing: I'm not always so sleepy that I can go straight to bed and fall asleep.

I often scroll, watch stuff, or text because it helps me relax.

Otherwise, I get bored.

So, to avoid phone in bedtime, I've tried other form of entertainmentβ€” reading books.

It works well for me because I know how to read. (πŸ™ˆ Sorry)

Also, because I enjoy reading.

And I have an Amazon Kindle, which means I can read in dark without straining my eyes.

I know this might not be the perfect solution for everyone.

Especially if you're not into reading.

However, the point here is to add barriers to avoid using phone in the morning.

In the future newsletters, I'll explore more alternatives.

However, consider investing in an alarm clock if you use phone for that.

Talk to you next Sunday at 10 AM.

Cheers!
