Snooze Smart, Stay Sharp! 🏆

A commonly available feature, yet it often remains unused.

One of the tasks on my to-do list was to send a proposal email.

So, I opened my inbox. 📧

Noticed two new emails.

I decided to first finish writing the proposal.

✅ Email sent!

Now, I moved to check unread emails.

Out of the two, one was client feedback, and the other one was an industry newsletter.

I spent a few minutes thinking about the feedback.

Then I spent 10-15 minutes watching a video shared in the newsletter.

Video was quite informative. 💯

But then I found a fun video suggestion from YouTube and ended up spending an additional 30-40 minutes watching it.🍿

Finally, I closed the inbox tab and returned to my to-do list.

Can you relate to this?

If your answer is yes, then read on.

That feedback email wasn’t urgent.

That newsletter wasn’t even on my to-do list.

🙈 Yet, I chose to open it.

I managed to turn a simple 5-minute email writing task into an hour-long distraction.

And at the end of the day, I shamelessly complained that I didn't have enough time to complete my tasks.

True! But what’s the issue?

I won't put the blame on YouTube for keeping me engaged with their suggestions; after all, 💁 that's YouTube's purpose.

The problem lies in not being mindful with my inbox.

I had the choice to send the email and return to work.

🙅 But while I thought I was addressing work-related emails, I actually ended up wasting precious time.

Additionally, I can't deny that it makes me uncomfortable to see an unread email.

I really dislike having too many unread emails in my inbox.

That's just the way I am.🥸

Nevertheless, that's the problem.

Alright, but what's the solution?

The answer was already sitting right in my inbox— the option to 'Snooze' emails.

👉 According to The Verge's article

Emails come in throughout the day — sometimes at really inconvenient moments.

If you don’t have the time to deal with an email when it appears or if you want to get back to it later and you’re afraid you’ll forget about it, you can use email snooze feature.

Snoozing an email means that it will disappear for a while and then come back to the top of your inbox at a time you pick, as though you’re receiving it all over again.

Moreover, if you're like me and prefer to check emails only a few times a day to stay productive, then setting specific times to receive those emails is a fantastic feature.

Email snoozing helps me keep emails out of my immediate view without missing anything important.

The following videos will guide you through how to use the Snooze feature effectively:

Email Snooze is a commonly available feature, yet it often remains unused.

I hope you'll try this less-popular feature out to help you stay more focused.

Anyway, thank you so much for reading 🧘 Mindful Scroll.

Talk to you next Sunday at 10 AM.

Cheers!
